Q: What
is the Rock Band Network?
A: It is where Harmonix set up the tools and a community
where bands, studios, labels, sound engineers, or any one with there own
music can
mix, chart, test, and sell
their music as a playable part of the RockBand video game. It
also act as a screening process to ensure that the
music
is up to a certain quality and
playability standard.
Q: What does Interactive Music
Productions do?
A: We take
a bands original music and prepare it to be played in the video game RockBand
through the RockBand Network. Once
authored, we will summit it to the Rock Band Network store for
sale.
Q: Is Interactive Music Productions part of Harmonix?
A: This site is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, Harmonix Music Systems Inc., MTV Networks or their affiliates.
Q: I am in a band and
we have our own music, what now?
A: If you select us, we just need copies of
your master's digital stems (preferably in WAV format) and we will take care of
the rest.
We will mix, chart and test
your song until it is ready for submission. Once ready, we will submit the
song for sale. After that, just wait
for it to sell. When payment is received by us, we will pay to
you the agreed upon portion of the royalty.
Q: What if
our band does not have masters yet?
A: Well you got to have those. Time
to get some recording done. We are working with Dark House
Studios to help get masters recorded
where
needed. So if you are in, passing through, or can get to the
Shreveport, LA area, we can help set that up
too.
Q: How much does it cost and how much do we get paid?
A: The cost and pay outs are as follows
:
The band pays nothing upfront
There is a royalty of 30% of the sale for each copy of the song downloaded.
The 30% royalty will be split, 20% to the band and 10% to Interactive
Music Productions
If you prepare you own file
for the Rock Band Network, we will offer to submit it for
you
The 30% royalty will be split, 24% to the
band and 6% to Interactive Music Productions
This is great for bands that are tech savvy or outside the
U.S.
Q: Can I do this
myself?
A: Absolutely! We here at
Interactive Music Productions believe this is the true
intent Harmonix has for the Rock Band Network. You can
get
all the information at Http://creators.rockband.com. We recommend that
you check this site first before deciding your next move, and if you
would
like to have us author or publish
for you.
Q: How much will our band make?
A: We are not sure, but we are
hopeful. As with any new medium or format, there is no way to tell the
impact. We do see a huge
amount
of potential. RockBand
has millions of people who are always looking for the next song to play.
Even just being in the store
will
expose your music to listeners all
throughout the U.S. and the world.
Q: When will I get
paid?
A: Pay outs are handled by
Microsoft. They will issue royalties every quarter. We will
distribute payments as soon as the money
is in
our accounts.
Q: Where do I play my song?
A: Currently the Rock Band Network
is only available on the Xbox 360 version of RockBand. Harmonix does want
the service on all
systems, and is working
with Sony and Nintendo to get the Rock Band Network on Playstation 3 and Wii,
but no time line has been
given for
this. Harmonix has also said that they will try to move songs that
make it on to Xbox 360 over to Playstation 3 and
Wii,
but there is no further information
on that at this time.
Q: How do we know our music
will not be distributed to the public?
A: We here at Interactive Music
Productions understand this concern, but feel once the store opens, songs
start selling, and authoring
companies get
established this fear will go away. If you go with us, we will have you
ship your masters to us on some form hard
medium
(DVD or USB Flash Drive) through the
courier of you choice. Interactive Music Productions has a single
location and has no
plans to
network or outsource our work through the internet. We want your
music to go through as few hands as
possible.
